Write for us

We welcome pitches from writers with a clear idea about sport, its settings, its customs or the ways a game works. Proposals should suit curious general readers and stand on their own without specialist credentials.

What we welcome

We are interested in original explainers, comparisons, histories and carefully shaped guides to watching or understanding a sport. Strong proposals choose one manageable subject, give it a fresh angle and show why a reader might care beyond a single result or season.

A useful pitch

Include a working title, the central question or idea, the main points you would cover and any important sources or permissions the piece would need. Tell us briefly why you are well placed to write it, without assuming that formal credentials are required. Please send original proposals rather than completed work copied from elsewhere.

How to send it

Send your proposal through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Please do not include confidential information or material you do not have permission to share. A pitch is a proposal, not a guarantee of publication.
