Editorial policy

We aim for accurate, readable work about sport and sporting culture. Each piece should make its subject clear, distinguish established information from interpretation and give readers a fair account of relevant context.

Accuracy and context

Writers and editors check names, terminology and factual claims against suitable material before publication. We take care with the differences between sports, places and traditions, and avoid presenting a broad generalisation as a universal rule. Where an account has limits or uncertainty, the wording should make that clear.

Independence

Editorial decisions are made for relevance, clarity and reader interest. A commercial relationship does not buy favourable coverage or editorial approval, and articles should not disguise promotion as independent reporting.

Corrections

If a reader spots a meaningful error, they can contact us with the article title and a description of the issue. We review correction requests and amend confirmed errors, making the change clear when the nature of the correction calls for it.

Partnerships and illustrations

Material created with a partner is labelled clearly so readers can recognise its commercial context. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; when an illustration is AI-generated, we identify it as such and do not present it as documentary evidence.
